Jaguars Trevor Lawrence to enter concussion protocol after loss to Ravens

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will enter concussion protocol, coach Doug Pederson said after his team’s 23-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Pederson said he thought Lawrence, who was evaluated after the game, sustained the concussion on a play in the fourth quarter. The 24-year-old passed for 264 yards and led the team with 41 yards on the ground, but finished with just one touchdown (a 65-yarder, the longest TD pass of his career) Sunday.

Jacksonville fell to 8-6 with the loss and created a three-way tie atop the AFC South with the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts. The Jaguars will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday on the road.

Ravens clinch playoff berth vs. Jaguars

Lawrence, who played through a high-ankle sprain last week, hasn’t missed a game due to injury in his three NFL seasons. Backup QB C.J. Beathard would be in line to start next week should Lawrence not clear the protocol.

After earning his first Pro Bowl nod last season, Lawrence has thrown for 3,525 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, also rushing for 300 yards and four TDs.
